Coriander Seeds Powder

Dhaniyala Podi / Dhaniyala Karam


Coriander Seeds 1 cup
Whole Red Chiles 1 – 2
Whole Black Pepper a pinch
Tamarind lime sized ball
Salt to taste

Method of preparation:

Heat a shallow pan on low flame, add coriander seeds and whole red chiles.
Once aromatic, remove from heat and add black pepper, teared tamarind and salt.

Cool the ingredients to room temperature and grind them into fine powder.
Store tight in a dry place and this coriander seeds powder stays fresh for months.
Serve with idly, dosa or plain steamed rice and dollop of ghee.

Notes: Make sure not to burn any of the ingredients.

    if u add kopra ie dessicated cocunut along with the above ingredients [after frying it without oil and then grind ]u get a nice and tasty idly dosai powder, i tried it and want others to enjoy it .
