Dried Mango Slices / Amchur 5 – 7
Toor Dal 1 cup
Green Chiles 3
Turmeric Powder a big pinch
Salt to taste
Urad Dal 1 tsp
Mustard Seeds 1/2 tsp
Cumin Seeds 1/2 tsp
Curry Leaves 4
Asafoetida a pinch
Oil 1 tsp
Method of preparation:
Wash toor dal with water and pressure cook in 2 cups of water for 3 whistles.
Wash amchur slices under running water.
Remove stems, wash and slice the green chiles.
Heat oil in a deep vessel, add all talimpu ingredients in order.
When urad dal changes color, add green chiles, dried mango slices, turmeric powder and salt.
Pour a cup of water and cook covered until mango slices turn soft from inside.
Uncover and add cooked toor dal.
Bring to boil and serve hot with steamed rice or roti.
Notes: This amchur dal is perfect substitute for raw mango dal when raw mangoes are out of season.
