Poori Curry

Ingredients:

Potato 1
Onion 1
Green Chillies 2
Besan 3 tbsps
Turmeric Powder a big pinch
Salt to taste

Talimpu:

Chana Dal 1 tsp
Urad Dal 1 tsp
Mustard Seeds 1 tsp
Cumin Seeds 1 tsp
Broken Red Chillies 3
Curry Leaves 6
Oil 2 tbsps

Method of preparation:

Remove stems, wash and slit green chillies into two.
Peel and slice the onion.
Peel and chop potato into small cubes.
In a bowl, mix besan with water to make thick lumpless paste.

Heat oil in a pan, add all talimpu ingredients in order.
When chana dal changes color, add green chillies and onion.
Once the onions turns translucent, add potato cubes, turmeric powder and salt.
Sprinkle some water and cook covered for 5 minutes or until the potatoes become soft without getting mushy.
Now add the besan paste we made before and give the curry a quick stir.
Let it come to a bubble or two and remove from heat.
Serve with poori.

Notes: Make sure the besan paste doesn’t have any lumps.

    Good one Raji. We make ours slightly differently – without the besan. I have tasted this one though at a friend’s place.

    I do the same but I do not add besan flour. Instead, I mash a couple of potatoes to get the consistency.
