Ridge Gourd 1 medium size
Milk 1/2 cup
Green Chillies 2
Ginger 1/2 inch piece
Turmeric Powder a pinch
Salt to taste
Chana Dal 1/2 tsp
Urad Dal 1/2 tsp
Mustard Seeds 1/4 tsp
Cumin Seeds 1/4 tsp
Curry Leaves 5
Oil 1 tbsp
Method of preparation:
Peel, wash, remove ends and chop ridge gourd into small pieces.
Remove stems, wash and finely chop green chillies.
Wash, peel and finely chop ginger.
Heat oil in a pan, add all talimpu ingredients in order.
When chana dal turns light brown, add green chillies and ginger.
Then add chopped ridge gourd, turmeric powder and salt.
Cook covered on medium-low flame for 5-10 minutes or until the ridge gourd becomes soft.
Pour and milk and cook uncovered until all the milk evaporates.
Serve with hot rice and ghee.
Notes: Leave a little bit of skin for crunch if you wish.
