Potato 2 large
Onion 1 large
Green Chilli 2-4
Garlic Pods 3-5
Mustard Seeds 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder a big pinch
Salt to taste
Oil 1 tbsp
Method of preparation:
Cut the potatoes into halves leaving the skin on.
Heat 4-6 cups of water in a pot along with halved potatoes.
Boil on medium-high flame until the potatoes are soft and well cooked.
Cool, peel and mash the potatoes roughly.
Finely chop garlic pods, onion and green chiles.
Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and let them splutter.
Then add garlic pods, onion and green chiles.
When the onion turns almost translucent, add mashed potatoes, turmeric powder and salt.
Stir thoroughly to let potatoes absorb all the flavours.
Serve with rice or roti.
Notes: Add finely chopped cilantro or mint and masala powder of your choice for extra flavor.
