Lady Finger with Onion

Lady fingers 15-20
Green Chillies 5
Red Onion 1
Turmeric powder a pinch
Salt to taste


Fenugreek seeds a pinch
Urad dal 1 tsp
Mustard seeds 1/2 tsp
Cumin seeds 1/2 tsp
Broken red chillies 4
Oil 1 tbsp

Method of preparation:

Wash and pat dry lady fingers.
Cut both the ends off and chop lady fingers into 1-11/2 inch pieces.
Remove ends, wash and slice green chilli into circles.
Finely chop onion.

Heat oil in a wok, add all talimpu ingredients in order.
Then add chopped green chillies and onion.
When onion turns almost translucent, add chopped lady finger pieces, turmeric powder and sprinkle salt.
Cook covered for 5 minutes or until done by stirring occasionally.
Serve with rice or roti.

Notes: For tangy taste, add tamarind extract in the beginning or lemon juice at end.
