Besan Rice

Senagapindi Annam


Cooked Rice 2 cups
Onions 1
Green chillies 1
Cilantro 10 leaves
Besan/ Senagapindi 2 tbsps
Urad dal 1 tsp
Mustard seeds 1/2 tsp
Broken red chillies 2
Hing/ inguva a pinch
Salt to taste

Method of preparation:

Finely chop onion and green chillies.
Wash and chop cilantro.

Heat oil, add urad dal, mustard seeds and broken red chillies.
When mustard seeds start to splutter, add hing/ asafoetida.
The moment you smell hing, add finely chopped onion and green chillies.
Fry for few seconds before adding besan.
Then add cooked rice, salt and cilantro.
Mix thoroughly and serve hot with plain yogurt.

Notes: Add little bit of milk before adding rice if you wish.
