Toor dal/ kandi pappu 1cup
Green chillies 4
Salt to taste
Mustard seeds 1tsp
Cumin seeds 1tsp
Broken red chillies 3
Garlic pods 2
Hing (inguva) a pinch
Method of preparation:
Pour 2 and half cups of water and cook the washed dal for 2-3whistles in pressure cooker.
Chop tomatoes and cook them along with toor dal in same cooker but in a different vessel.
In a deep pan, heat oil, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, broken red chillies, crushed
garlic pods,hing and then halved green chillies. When seeds start to jump,
add the cooked dal and tomatoes. Cook for 5-10min according to your dal preferences.
Finally add salt and serve with roasted papad.
Notes: Add chopped onions while cooking the dal if you wish.
